We use a variety of Research Methods...
Ecological Momentary Assessment
We are currently using EMA to examine daily discrimination in sexual minority people, and how this relates to fluctuations in suicidal ideation. We are also examining how Social Safety may be a factor that plays a role in mental health among Sexual Minority People following Diamond & Alley (2022). Funded by a Psi Chi Graduate Student Research Grant awarded to Morgan Buerke |
Virtual Reality
We have been using virtual reality (VR) technology to elicit symptoms of Anxiety Sensitivity Cognitive Concerns and dissociation in the lab. We have created dissociation induction paradigms using an external camera and used existing VR games to examine suicide risk (e.g., Richie's Plank Experience), Our goal is to examine possible facilitators of suicide risk, such as dissociation, as well as examine if VR can aid in the assessment of suicidal individuals.

Interpretation Bias Modification (CBM-I)
We have been running participants testing the first Anxiety Sensitivity Cognitive Concerns CBM-I ever developed. This is the first CBM-I to target a specific Anxiety Sensitivity subfactor instead of the global construct. Clinical implications for depression, PTSD, & suicide risk.

EEG/ERP
We have tested the effects of simultaneous EEG/ERP recording while doing computerized anxiety interventions. ERPs of interest include the ERN, LPP, and Reward Sensitivity. Clinical implications for anxiety disorders, PTSD, & suicide risk.
